Drum centrifuge

The drum centrifuge utilizes a powerful centrifugal force generated by the high-speed rotation of the rotor to accelerate the settling and falling speed of particles in the liquid, and then separates substances with different settling coefficients and buoyancy densities from the sample. This is the working principle of the centrifuge.

The separation principle of a centrifuge is to use the high-speed rotation of the drum to drive the slurry entering the drum to rotate at high speed. The slurry is thrown onto the wall of the drum to form a liquid circle. The solid particles in the liquid circle, due to the centrifugal force hundreds or even thousands of times greater than their own gravity, overcome the resistance of the slurry viscosity and quickly settle onto the inner wall of the drum, forming a solid layer, and the liquid forms a liquid phase layer. Under the action of the differential, a certain speed difference is formed between the screw propeller and the drum. Therefore, the solid particles that have settled on the inner wall of the drum are scraped off the drum wall, gradually pushed towards the small end of the drum by the screw blades, and dehydrated during the propulsion process. Finally, after reaching the nozzle, they are thrown out of the drum and discharged from the tank.
